Excellence for all through learning
Excellence for all through learning
1. UNITY & EXCELLENCE
My "one word" New Year's resolution for 2022 is United. Let's be Medway United! A motto of the United States is E Pluribus Unum: out of many, one. We are stronger together! Let's be about relationships characterized by trust and mutual respect. Let's focus on common ground we can all agree on which, in school, should

My "one word" New Year's resolution for 2022 is United. Let's be Medway United! A motto of the United States is E Pluribus Unum: out of many, one. We are stronger together! Let's be about relationships characterized by trust and mutual respect. Let's focus on common ground we can all agree on which, in school, should primarily be about the pursuit of academic excellence for each student. Let's strive together to be the best that we can be!
2. ADMINISTRATIVE NEUTRALITY & BALANCE
In order to achieve unity in the schools & town there needs to be administrative neutrality and balance. If Medway Public Schools are to live up to their creed - "Excellence for ALL" - we need to focus on what unites through academics, arts, and athletics so every student can feel like they belong.
Footnote: An address in 2021 by Dr. John Austin, Head of School at Deerfield Academy, is supportive of this platform position and I'd recommend taking a listen here: https://vimeo.com/637958810
3. PARENT/GUARDIAN PARTNERSHIP
A big reason I was successful as a youth soccer coach was because I would get parents involved in what I was teaching and we would put in the deliberate practice time. The same applies to other areas of children's education. Learning starts at home! When parents/guardians are involved, the better chance a child has of being successful. Let's work together with our talented and dedicated teachers. I like how John Wooden defines it: "Success is a peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming.” Don't over-stress it, control what you can control, enjoy the journey. Be Medway! Believe!

I have thoroughly enjoyed serving Medway on the School Committee the last 3 years & I am motivated to run & serve again based on positive feedback, support, & encouragement from numerous Medway families & residents. My wife, Trudy, & I moved to Medway in 1999 & our boys, Ladd-Patrick & Luke, had a great experience growing up in Medway & coming through the Medway Schools. They have both continued their studies at the University of New Hampshire where they also play on the Men’s soccer team.
One of the primary reasons I ran for School Committee was that I was noticing far too much partisan political activism going on in our schools that takes away from our core purpose: excellence in teaching & learning! I welcome the opportunity to have a community conversation about how to keep our schools strong & to make them even better for all.
I look forward to sharing more during the course of the campaign & please be in touch if you have any feedback to share with me as a current School Committee member (timfagerson@medwayschools.org OR tlfagerson@gmail.com). I look forward to continuing to serve every student, parent, & teacher as a member of the Medway School Committee & appreciate your vote on May 17th.
Feel free to contact me at timfagerson@medwayschools.org OR tlfagerson@gmail.com to discuss any questions or concerns regarding our schools. Great conversations help drive improvements that benefit students, parents, teachers, and staff. I look forward to hearing from you and I ask for your vote on May 17th.
Thank you and Best Wishes,
Dr. Tim
